Scholar Life

Experience It All At Paul

From Honors and AP courses, field trips, performances, STEM club, sports, dance and fashion, modeling, choir and yes traveling abroad–we want our Paul Scholars to experience it all! We provide a variety of academic, social, cultural and after-school activities and clubs to ensure a well-rounded experience for all of our scholars.

The M.E.R.I.T. Scholar

Paul is the home of the M.E.R.I.T. Scholars, which stands for Motivated, Educated, Responsible and Independent Thinker. We have designed a Character Education Program that provides a framework for model behavior, which is supported by our character program.

Each month, incentives are offered to encourage our scholars to exhibit positive character traits such as honesty, good citizenship, caring self-discipline, responsibility, fairness, perseverance, courage, and loyalty. Scholars who exhibit these positive traits are publicly recognized in community meetings.

Scholars earn additional incentives like scholar dollars to purchase cool Paul swag, participation in off-campus excursions, dances, social mixers, movies and games and other activities chosen by scholars.

Scholar Traits

Each month we focus on key character traits: respect, honesty, citizenship, caring, self-discipline, responsibility, fairness, perseverance, courage, and loyalty. Scholars are recognized publicly in community meetings as a means of reinforcing the expectations while celebrating scholar successes. Paul Scholars learn and understand that their actions result in either positive or negative consequences, which directly impact their futures.
