March 15, 2020

Dear Paul Parents,

As you are aware, Mayor Bowser announced the closure of DCPS for students effective Friday, March 13, 2020. Per our letter emailed on March 13th, we will also be transitioning to distance learning starting Wednesday, March 18th.

We recognize that our students being required to attend school for one additional day (Tuesday, March 17, 2020), is different from the schedule that DCPS and other charters have set in place. The requirement for our students to attend school on Tuesday stems from the different approach we are taking to educating your child(ren) during this prolonged period of separation. The distance learning plan for Paul Scholars requires them to log in to Google Hangout daily where their teacher(s) will meet them to deliver direct instruction. Additionally, students will have a virtual classroom for each of their courses where their work will be loaded, submitted and where they can continue to receive individualized support from those who know their educational needs best, their teachers.

Accomplishing this major feat of continuing direct instruction, staying connected to our students and ensuring their learning stays on track, requires very detailed planning and training. This planning/training will be completed on March 16th for staff and March 17th for our students. Additionally, we will use Tuesday to distribute devices and materials to students who need them. This is why your child’s/children’s attendance on Tuesday, March 17th is so critical. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this process/plan, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly via email (twright@paulcharter.org).

In closing, know that in the coming days/weeks you will receive regular letters from me to provide updates. Please see below for a few critical notices/ action items:

Consulten a continuación algunos avisos/elementos críticos:

  • Horario
