On October 28, the DC Public Charter School Board (DC PCSB) released its Annual School Quality Report. We are pleased to report that Paul International High School (PIHS) received a Tier 1 rating which puts us in the highest rating for all public charter schools in the city!
The annual School Quality Report measures the performance of every public charter school and provides data about this performance in a detailed, easy to understand format. The report measures each school in the same four categories of performance including: Student Progress, Student Achievement, Future Educational Success (called “Gateway”), and School Environment (i.e., attendance and re-enrollment rates, which measure families’ satisfaction with their particular school.

Here are a few key factors that you should know about our school’s assessment:
- Overall, our school showed growth in both student achievement and college and career readiness.
- Since 2017, we have made significant gains in PARCC ELA and Math scores and our graduation rate, including 23% increase in ELA 3+, 12% increase in Math 3+, and an 11% increase in our four-year graduation rate.
- During the last two years, we implemented the EngageNY curriculum and targeted interventions for struggling readers which support our gains in ELA and Math.
