Associations & Partnerships
The
Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity has been an enthusiastic supporter
of Paul PCS, especially for the male students. They assist in activities
that will improve the performance of the students we serve,
encourage and promote achievement and good citizenship, and
prepare students for the world of tomorrow. Also, the fraternity
presents engraved plaques and trophies to eight grade male students
at the Annual Awards Dinner in June.
American
University has provided Paul PCS with a variety of resources over
the last several years. We have provided AU's teachers-in-training
classroom experiences with veteran teacher mentors.Paul also has hosted discussion groups for some of AU's education
classes.
Marshall-Brennan Fellowship,
AU's Washington College of Law teaches some of our select eigth
grade students US Constitutional Law to fulfill their social
studies requirement.
Booz Allen Hamilton, a world renowned consulting firm, is the
oldest partner of Paul PCS. The objective of the program is to provide
mentors to students in an effort to establish a bond between
professionals and young adults. Booz Allen Hamilton holds class sessions
once a month with our students and discusses topics of interest
to Paul PCS students. Additionally, mentors sponsor a monthly field
trip for students to places such as the Air and Space museum,
the circus, ice skating, and community service events. Booz
Allen Hamilton provides meals and transportation for all of the events
that are hosted.
The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts sponsors
many challenging and exciting arts events for Paul PCS students,
families and teachers through the Community Partnerships Program.
The program is grounded on the belief that the arts are one
of humanity's most eloquent means of understanding the world.
The program allows students to be exposed to and engage in dance,
drama and the National Symphony Orchestra, as well as allow
teachers to participate in professional development activities
at a reduced rate.
Slected students
participate in a Saturday Biotechnology Training intended to
stimulate students’ interest in science and help them
acquire basic laboratory skills which will be useful in many
settings, help them develop the mentality of inquiry, and help
sharpen their reasoning skills.
In partnership with the National Building Museum, students participate
in the CityVision program. CityVision is a semester long program
that prepares students to become active participants in shaping
their communities. The program provides fundamental knowledge
in the design process.
